Fire Safety

NVELOPEĀ® rainscreen subframe systems are made from aluminium and stainless steel bracket and rails which are defined as Euroclass A1 Non-Combustible by EC Directive - 94/611/EC.

Made of non-combustible, sustainable aluminium and stainless steel material which offers no contribution to fire. Our NVELOPE rainscreen systems adheres to a BBA Assessment 19/5671 which describes this as:

"Behaviour in relation to fire ā€” the systems (fixings, brackets, rails, carriers and adaptors) have an A1 reaction to fire classification in accordance with the national Building Regulations (see section 7)"

NVELOPE Project Builder / Thermal Builder Calculations

Important Points

  • The UK Government has announced a ban on combustible materials in external walls of residentialĀ high rise buildings
  • The regulation requires that all materials used in the external wall construction of a relevant buildingĀ are of European Classification A2-s1, d0 or Class A1, classified in accordance with BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009
  • Aluminium and aluminium alloys used in bracket and rail systems have a fire classification of. A1Ā ā€“Ā non-combustible and offers no contribution to fire.
  • Regulation 7 (3) lists materials which are exempt from the limits on combustibility and the list includes 'thermal break materials' which includes our Bracket Isolator (green isolator for reference and image)
  • Based on EC Decision document 96/603/EC aluminium and anodised aluminium is in a list of materials to have a low level of combustibility and not require any reaction to fire testing.
